Check your homeowners policy. If you have an HO8 type policy you are not covered for water damage from your plumbing system. The most likely cause of catastrophic loss to your property is water damage escaping from a plumbing system. It is not uncommon for a pressure pipe break that runs unchecked for one day to cause $60,000 to $80,000 worth of damage to your home and belongings. And you are not covered for water damage entering through your roof, windows or doors unless the water came through a hole or opening.

This policy has limited coverage and if you have a water loss you will realize the trade off in coverage is not worth the small amount of savings in premium.
